Program integration management is about coordinating multiple components and multiple program management processes. Integration management is characterized by unification, centralization, and coordination of various activities and deliverables. Integration of the program with existing operations of the organization.
The processes that fall under integration primarily integrate various elements. For example, the Integration management process under Initiating process group, integrates all the initiating related activities.
Similarly, the planning processes bring together all the other planning processes.

Example, A public transportation transformation program includes adding new buses to the existing fleet. This program needs to integrate with the existing commuter operations.
The integration could be in the form of deciding specific routes to add the new buses, communicating to the public about anticipated changes, training and hiring drivers, measuring the impact on existing traffic etc.,
The first process is Initiate program. This process falls under the Initiating process group and is generally performed at the beginning of the program life cycle.
