Artificial hair integration or hair extensions is currently becoming more popular, especially among movie stars whose portrayal of a role requires them to have longer hair. There are also those who want to conceal their thinning hair or simply want to look stunning with beautiful long hairstyles.
The process takes about two to six hours to be completed depending on the amount of extensions to be attached, the method used and also the quality of hair used. A range of human to synthetic hair fibers are used to make the extensions. Synthetic hair is considerably cheaper than human hair and is available in a variety of color and textures. Although these synthetic types cannot survive hot temperatures applied in some hairstyling techniques such as straightening and curling. Artificial hair are classified by manufacturers by the color based on a standard care. The darkest black is denoted by the number 1. The texture of artificial hair may vary from pin-straight to very curly or kinky. Curl patterns in synthetic hair also have a wide-ranged.
The quality of hair also contributes to the duration by which the process of artificial hair integration may be completed. A virgin hair is one which has not yet been subjected to coloring or chemical processing.
These extensions can be attached in more than one way. Each method is probable to cause damage to our natural hair. The risk of damage may be decreased if these extensions are attached and removed correctly by a trained hair stylist or hair expert.
Fusion is the process of attaching the extension in wefts while Infusion refers to attaching the extension strand by strand with a hot or cold adhesive form. The adhesive can range from waxes to medical grade, can be a keratin-based product or natural-based. Extensions affixed fusion may last from three to five months. However, most stylists and experts strictly suggest that extensions stay attached onto the hair for only 8 weeks to prevent permanent hair loss.
Bonding is another method of fastening extensions. A glue or adhesive material is to be brushed onto a weft of the extension hair and then applied to the individual root. This process provides a temporary solution lasting only for a few weeks. Chrissy V is a Bonding method and product with patent designed for fine and fragile hair. It takes one hour to attach the extensions which is known to last for four to six weeks and allows for hair to be re-used.
In Micro methods of attaching, human hair extensions are glued with tiny links, sleeves, lock or shells matching the color of the hair. Bellargo, DreamCatchers, Eurolocs, Hair Locs and Mark Barrington are examples of micro methods.
In Heat Sealing methods like Dome Monofibre and ProStyles, strands of synthetic hair fiber are affixed to the natural hair via a heat seal. The artificial fiber then sinks down to form a seal which secures the attachment.
Different types of two-sided tapes are used in attaching wefts or strands. Examples of such method are Extend Magic, TressAllure and Ultratress. String Methods such as Akinda, Hair Police, Microchet, Micro Point and Sequencing employ a process where these extension is sewn or attached to the natural hair with the use of strings.
